“I have to protect you”
A lot of things happened in this one; I loved some parts more, some less.
Mostly, a successful hour, but a Wu centric episode was not what I expected.
I was very glad, that Adalind told Nick about her self-beast-problem.
Unfortunately she kept her meeting Diana to herself. What is it with this constant
desire to only give bits and pieces of the information? Come clean once and for
all, like all the cards on the table. Frustrating!
And then she left. To be entirely honest, I can’t even blame Adalind at
this point. She literally did not have a choice. Well, leaving Kelly behind
with Nick would have probably been safer than bringing him straight to the lion’s
den. Black Claw might not touch him, but I’m not so sure about spoiled, craving
for attention Diana.
I, who wondered about her powers, take all my remarks back. Powers are
there, she seems to control them as she wants, but she is still a little girl,
raised without parents, who doesn’t know better. Also her powers are scary.
Like creepy scary. She might be the scariest being on Grimm and that says a
lot. The way she pretended to be Sean, the way she telepathically influenced
Adalind! I was confused as to why she was also able to ‘see’ Eve and vice
versa, but hey, the body-swap explanation isn’t gonna get old anytime soon. And
was that a skull Diana draw using the pieces of broken mirror? Or was it a
Hexenbiest face? Creepy! Creepy!
Everyone has a shadow, everyone is under surveillance. The Black Claw is
very organized and efficient. And bloody hell, how easy it was for Sean to
choose a side. He did it before Diana showed up, so he loses any vote of
confidence. Bad Captain! No biscuit!
Wu’s predicament didn’t bring as much joy and fun as I hoped it would.
First he had to kill someone and that sucked all the fun out of it. Secondly,
it turned out the reason he didn’t confide in his friends is because he didn’t
remember. To his credit as soon as he knew something was terribly wrong he
called Rosalee, but still he had to call the first time his hand turned all
hairy. The team quickly figured out what’s what and though their faces were
pure delight when he turned, the whole revelation lacked something. And I don’t
know what. Anyhow, there is no cure (as always), and it all comes down to him
controlling his emotions. If someone can do it, it’s Wu, he is very even-tempered.
The only problem is that if and when he can’t he is an uncontrollable beast who
attack anyone, including his friends. That will be challenging.
I was also right about Hank’s lady. I wish I wasn’t. Poor guy can’t catch
a break. One can hope she is forced to set a trap, but she is so emotionless
and scary that I doubt that’s the case.
Some observations
Episode’s opening quote was by Mary Shelley: “Nothing is so painful to the
human mind as a great a sudden change”.
Diana had a drawing of her
mother as a Hexenbiest. How very disturbing.
Also, Diana reads Brothers
Grimm. How very peculiar.
This guy, Bonaparte (cool
name, by the way) had a point, Nick is part of the Wesen world, more so, than a
human one.
Trubel is back. I didn’t
realize she left with Meisner, I didn’t even notice he was gone.
Wu in his
“infection-caused-woge” looked a lot like a cartoon character.
Loved the Hexenbiest magic, the words that disappeared after Nick read
them, leaving secret message behind. How cool was that!
Memorable Quotes:
Adalind: “I'm
just worried the world's never gonna leave us alone.”
Hank’s
treacherous lover girl: “So what's it like working with a Grimm and knowing all
this?”
Hank: “It's,
um... sort of like chasing Alice
down the rabbit hole.”
Police
officer (whose name I keep forgetting): “Theo Delano. He's got a rap sheet ten
miles long,
three miles
wide, six feet deep.”
Wu: “As
long as I know I'm not crazy, I'll find a way to deal with it.”
Trubel: “And
where's Theo Delano now?”
Nick: “Dead.”
Trubel: “Oh,
good. I'll update the database.”
Sol’s rating: despite my mixed feelings, I’m
inclined to give it a 4. What do you think?
