“Stars, hide your fire; let not light see
my black and deep desires”

I don’t know why, but when I heard the title of this episode I thought it
would be the last fight for Trubel. Why? I have no idea. Instead we got a quite
possibly a bright dark future for her in Grimm-type covert ops. Talk
about Grimm recruitment process.
Come to think of it, having two Grimms in town can get a bit crowded, so
what to do with her when Nick gets his powers back? The answer is brilliant: ship her off to work
for the government, that way she would have a new purpose and she could
always come back, if and when needed.
We got a perfectly scientific
explanation for Nick’s ability to see Wesen. It’s all in his brains, or rather
eyes.
“There are cells in the
retina known as cones. Most people have three types... blue, green, and
red...and the overlap of these cones allows people to see a spectrum of colors.
A small percentage of women have a fourth cone that allows them to see colors
invisible to the rest of us. Based on the scan of the area where the
abnormality appears, Nick could have a fourth or even a fifth cone.”
I loved that it’s a condition he was born with, but I didn’t like the
explanation as to why he can’t see Wesen anymore. The doctor said “there's some
swelling in the area, which may be preventing light from triggering the cones.”
So, not only Adalind took his powers, she gave him some sort of tumor. If they
treat this swelling medically not magically, could it restore his abilities? It’s great when there is a medical explanation, it’s great when there is
a magical one, but are they interchangeable, so to speak? Can one treat the
problem without another? If we are in the supernatural world, shouldn't we stay in the boundaries of it and move to the real world?
Let me tell you that I absolutely love Sean’s mom. She young, charming, scary and quick thinking. I’m a bit skeptical as to why
Sean is still in the hospital? Shouldn’t that direct transfusion from the heart
have healed him by now? Maybe I’m a bit confused about the time line. How much time has passed since
the shooting? Couple of days? Anyway him not being able to help out allowed Elizabeth more screen
time. Her working with Monroe and Rosalee was equally intertaining to
watch as it was to watch them work with mama-Grimm.
For a second there I wished we had mama-Grimm and mama-Hexenbiest,
working together… or fighting each other… or both…. have them fight each other and then work
together. I’m done now.
The case of the week took way too much time from the main plot and was
pretty lame and ordinary. It was obvious early on that Clay was not a killer. Judging by this brutal pre-fight prep he is one of those Wesen with huge
strength and power but not willing to use them. The mom twist was however
shocking. Not chocking enough to save this sub-plot though.
Some observations
Bud was back for like five seconds and the group couldn’t keep a secret.
Now, he’s off “not telling anyone” Nick isn’t a Grimm anymore. That can’t be
good.
Trubel was training and boxing in jeans. How very uncomfortable that must
have been!
We do know that Monroe
is very brave and it is adorable to watch him in total panic mode in the
company of Hexenbiest.
No movement on ‘telling Wu the truth’ front.
Who the hell where those dudes in masks near the Spice Shop?
And who the hell was whoever he/it was who helped Adalind escape from inescapable
prison cell built for hexenbiests?
Memorable Quotes:
Nick: “I just wish things were back to...”
Juliette: “What? Normal?”
Nick: “I don't even know what that is anymore. Being
a Grimm? Not being a Grimm? Not
being a Grimm and knowing?”
That is a problem at its core – the monsters
didn’t go away, he just can’t see them.
Elizabeth: “To beat a hexenbiest like Adalind, you need a hexenbiest like me.”
Sol’s rating: Although I wish they spent more
time with the main cast, I liked it, so 3.5 out of 5.
