“Oh there is a terrible witch in that house who spewed her poison over me and scratched me with her long fingernails” |
I think I finally understood what was missing – some
personal drama. The world of Grimm, as we know it, though in parts scary and
all, is still relatively safe when it comes to home. It would have been nice
for a change to shake that world up a little bit. I think it’s what the
writers tried to do with Juliette, but either they didn’t think it through
or they not moving with this story fast enough, because as exciting and
promising this twist was in the beginning, I for one am losing interest in it
and starting to hope for a better handling of the other side of this coin –
relationships between Nick and his Captain. It will be interesting to see how
their work dynamic will change.
Nick’s world seems to be falling apart - he learns
that Juliette has feelings for the other man, his partner gets bit up and put
in the hospital, he is forced to move out and his trailer has been discovered.
Add to that lack of sleep and boss who stole your girlfriend that gives a new
perspective of what “Grimm on a loose” can do. Frankly that will be a plot
development that I would love to see. We saw the glimpse of it later in
the episode when before the fight
However in the midst of all this Nick is not alone anymore
like he was in the beginning of the series. He has a full support of his
partner and a friendship of such a cool Wesen being like Monroe, who happens to
have a ‘little old world” guest bedroom (of course he does!). I must admit I
liked that Nick preferred to stay with Monroe
, and not with Hank. True, Hank is in the hospital and his house is crushed and
all, but still Monroe and Nick under one roof that’s a ground for myriad of
awesome funny moments. And honestly I’ve been missing a lot Nick/Monroe dynamic,
since Hank found out the truth.
Grimmology
Wesen of the hour were Hundjäger (pronounced<
i>hoont-yay-gər),
vicious dog-like Wesen with heightened tracker talents and relentless sense for
pursuing their prey, which is why they become feared hit men, enforcers or
bounty hunters. We see one of them attacking Renard’s ally in Vienna and the others
attacking people across the continent before Nick and Monroe grimmed them off
in such a style.
But the true villain of the week however is Adalind
who came back to Portland
in search of the key and brought all sorts of mayhem with her. She has lost all
her super powers but got more power by backing up the other brother. I guess it
is true “you don’t have to be a witch to work this kind of magic”… just a woman
on the path of revenge.
Some observations
I don’t know why Monroe hasn’t told Nick the whole
truth, I mean he knew why Renard was coming to the shop, he knew about the
obsession and that it was “artificially” caused and he said it himself how
weird it was that Nick is the only one who Juliette doesn’t remember.
Oh, my god, Juliette! Can you possibly be more clueless!
You have been warned about Adalind, you have been told numerous times about the
scratch of a cat, yet you spill all kinds of secrets to an almost total
stranger who was simply questioning her!
Rosalee was not in the episode, not even over the
phone, I did not miss her.
Adalind was staying in room 212 and it was episode 212
Memorable Quotes:
Nick: “Adalind’s back. She went to Hank’s last night
and now he is in the hospital.”
Nick: “Take their ids, cell phones, everything else they have. Take this all back to your place.”
Nick: “And this”
Nick: “I’m not sleeping on the couch anymore”. (Well,
right about time)
That was a mid-season finale and we are left with mild
and survivable cliffhanger: Nick learning the identity of Juliette’s “new”
love, which is no shock to us and Captain finding the trailer, which we all
knew he would.
