“If I shoot you, is that considered
suicide?”
This one was really good… if
only….
If only they let it play out for a bit longer. It could have easily been
spread into two-three episodes. Of course we can’t have a Grimm series without
its titular character, but hey, why not give David a time-out and let Sasha
carry all the weight. It was such a delight watching him interacting with
everyone as Nick.
Monroe: “Blue might be the
smarter choice, you know, but I gotta say, a lot of people like red. It's a
power color, but Nick's not really a tie type of guy, but then again, it's not
actually gonna be Nick...”
Funny, that eventually Sean picked
the red and Nick picked the blue. And that was the only way we knew who is who
during that cool,
albeit short, fighting scene of Sean vs. Sean. And then, instead of keeping us
guessing they went into a very distinctive conversation, kissed and made up and
that was it.
What a gold mine of opportunities and they didn’t go there…. I was hoping
Nick would stay as Renard for a while, and then maybe pretend to be Nick
pretending to be Renard. I mean, they couldn’t have possibly dragged this for
too long, but what fun it could’ve been. Oh, well. At least they did the whole
‘what if it’s really not Nick’ thing. So, I’m happy.
The only thing I didn’t like about this scenario is that they used
Diana’s powers to turn Nick back. It only happened twice, but it already feels
like the writers rely on Diana as their ‘magical cure’ for all and any serious
jam. It kinda lifts all the suspension off of any problem in the future if all
it takes to solve it is Diana’s purple eyes. Plus, we still don’t know what her
powers are exactly and what it all mean, and it doesn’t look like we are going
to get anything more than her being a special child.
It was a fun episode. The actors did a wonderful job. I think I was
smiling throughout… Who cares it there was no movement story wise. We got back
to a status quo. Black Claw and HR faded into background. Adalind is free to go
back to Nick. Sean got visitation rights but lost the mayor’s office. Nick’s
not wanted for murder any more, Hank and Wu have their jobs back.
What is next?
Oh, and is Meisner really alive or Sean just completely lost it?
Some observations
This week it was Romania’s time,
as it was its novelist - Mihail
Sebastian who wrote “You will face
yourself again in a moment of terror and
will learn once again that old lesson you keep forgetting: that you can escape
from anywhere, but you cannot flee your own self” in his book “For Two
Thousand Years”.
Loved how they keep coming back to
Nick’s perfect post-zombi hearing every now and then. What can I say – I’m a
fan of continuity.
Hats off to Sasha Roiz who was
simply marvelous in catching all the nuances of David’s mimics, posture and
manner of speaking. Bravo!!!
The friend of Rachel’s who I totally
forgot existed came back to accuse Sean of her murder. And pump him for money.
How can one demand justice for someone’s death and blackmail the murderer all
in this same sentence?
So, the brutal transformation potion
requires hair. Has it always or they just made it up for the fun of it? Did
Adalind used Juliette’s hair? I can’t remember.
Also, to make the hat work you have
to inhale three times. Everything comes in three.
Memorable Quotes:
Wu: “We
should've killed Renard when we had the chance.”
Hank: “We
never had the chance.”
Wu: “We
should've killed Renard when we didn't have the chance.”
Adalind: “Well,
there are things we need to talk about.”
Sean: “Like
what?”
Adalind: “Well,
your daughter, for one.”
Sean: “Diana?
Why, did she kill somebody else?”
Not your typical family conversation )
Wu: “You
don't want to go in there... 'cause you're already in there.”
Sol’s rating: I had a lot of fun watching this
one, so I’m inclined to give it 4.
