Monroe: “It's like some kind
of weird symbol-filled equation-esque, kind of hieroglyphic-y, astrological
cornucopia of something I've run out of words for.”
That is exactly how I feel about this episode. Nothing really happened.
Well, lots happened, but at the end we were back to where we started. Still the
journey, albeit convoluted, was rather fun.
Diana’s x-ray vision was the obvious solution for deciphering that cloth.
I was half expecting her to get even more powerful, like that was even possible!
Thankfully she took it as a game and the experience was harmless. This episode
showed that Diana is still just a little girl, who looks at her powers as toys
and enjoys playing with them. She has no boundaries, nobody was ever there to
teach how to control her powers and show what they actually do. The whole
notion of ‘consequences’ is totally lost on her. And that could be
catastrophic. Ask Rachel.
The baby-sitting clearly showed that Monroe does not really know what to do with a
magical child. He better learn quick considering he is about to become a father of one. Nick on the other hand was quite capable. Loved how seriously he
talked to Diana, like she’s not a child, but a powerful being. Between him and
Adalind, Diana might just stand a chance.
I was looking at Diana and kept asking why isn’t she getting any older
anymore? What is the timeline exactly here? She was born in the middle of
season 3 and by the end of season 4 she was as she is now. Say 10-12 years old?
By that logic she must be in her 20s now, but she hasn’t changed at all during
last season. Having an adult powerful Diana running around – that could surely give an
unnecessary amount of headache, but how cool would that have been!
I’m with Eve on the stick\cloth investigation. Having something that
powerful, how can they not try to find out more? Especially now that it is
clearly protects Nick, and it is getting harder and harder for him to let go.
Eve was right; he shouldn’t keep it so close to heart, literally. I really like
Eve, about as much as I hated Juliette. Hats off to Bitsie for being able to
distinguish these two (or three if we count this present Eve) characters. Or
maybe she has finally been given a decent material to work with.
I also really like what they are doing with Nick and Adalind this season.
There is something very mature about their relationship, with just a right
amount of comfortable mixed with sexy.
“Where
should I meet you?” / “Where you first told me you loved me” – was absolutely
marvelous.
Watching the season premiere I was wondering why Adalind stays in that
house. Now that Bonaparte is dead, no one’s holding her there. On the other
hand where would she go? Nick’s loft is not safe and half destroyed. I would
still prefer the loft.
Sean called Adalind to be his alibi. Weird choice, but
whatever. I thought he wanted her to represent him,
considering she’s a lawyer. Everyone keeps forgetting she's a lawyer. Loved that Adalind stood up for herself and sent him to hell, and
then went and helped Nick. Sean’s face was priceless when he found out. The
trust me knot spell was kinda cool. Pointless but cool. When Adalind was so very
carefully wording the spell I knew there will be a loop hole and was expecting
someone to bite the dust. Nobody did, so they got off easy.
Hank and Wu to the rescue! There is a Chip and Dale reference lost in
there somewhere. LOL. I must say what they did was very brave. Very brave and very stupid, because now they are both unemployed. At this rate they won’t have anyone loyal at the
precinct soon.
As per tradition it was time to send Trubel away for a while. I wish they
could keep her around, I like her, but there are way too many recurring
characters, so it makes sense, considering this is the final season. At least
it allows her to dramatically re-enter the scene at the best possible moment and
save Nick.
Some observations
French novelist and Minister of Cultural Affaires is
the author of this episode’s opening quote “Man is not what he thinks he is, he is what
he hides”.
Loved the jars flying around
spice shop.
It was a good lol moment
when Sean wolged during questioning. Hank didn’t even blink, Wu on the other
hand is still getting used to it.
Memorable Quotes:
Monroe: “Diana is the offspring of a
full-on Hexenbiest and a half Zauberbiest, and Kelly is the son of the same Hexenbiest
and a Grimm. I'm sorry, but that is a big, weird gene pool to just be diving
into.”
Adalind: “You
expect me to be your alibi for a murder you didn't commit because you were
actually murdering the person who was your alibi?”
Sol’s rating: since we didn’t move anywhere
really - just barely a three.
