Rosalee: “Oh, my God, this has to
lead somewhere.”
I sure as hell hope, because this was catastrophic.
The final season (I hope that’s not a spoiler to you, my dear reader)
opener was … basically just that – an opener. Blunt, repetitive, disastrous
and only moderately good.
I was glad to see these characters back on my screen, if only they
wouldn’t behave so … shall I dare to say – stupid?
Like, for example – what was the point of ‘getting lost and wondering in
the tunnels’ part if everyone decided to go back to ‘save’ Nick anyway? Or like
why did we need to hear the same damn conversation about Sean issuing an arrest
warrant for Nick with shoot on sight tidbit so many times? For the fun of it, I
counted: Sean said it to Franco, Franco to Hank and Wu, Hank to Nick, Hank to
Trubel and Eve, Wu to Monroe and Rosalee. Seriously? No, like – SERIOUSLY? We
got it the first time around. What a catastrophic loss of screen time!
Now, let’s move to the good parts – outnumbered to the point of “you
could’ve missed them if you blinked”, but here they are.
First – Eve is thankfully not Juliette. From the looks of it, Juliette
died back when Trubel killed her. Eve is still Eve, only slightly less
murderous, less robotic and hexenbiesty and more human. Because of that magic
healing stick she is loosing her wesen power but gaining all sorts of others,
like she is now seeing things that nobody else does. Things connected to that
stick (I really wish they’d come up with a name for it). Not sold yet, but I am
curious. As long as she isn’t turning back to a boring Juliette, I’m fine.
Unless I’m totally off, and she is Juliette again and just keeping it to
herself; that thought also crossed my mind.
Second – Nick and Adalind are still an item. At least that is what I took
from the scene. The first thing they did was to kiss each other passionately,
so there is hope. When did I become such a shipper?
Still there are some obstacles, like Diana, who really wants mommy
and daddy to be together. She might not like mommy being in love with the
Grimm. He is not safe, and I am also worried for Kelly; and for Adalind for
that matter. When she was telling Nick of how dangerous Diana is I half
expected to see her eavesdropping by that ‘oh, so recklessly left opened’ door.
During that scene I felt very uneasy. Adalind herself is cautious, whereas Sean
is hotheaded. Boy, there will be some hard parenting ahead.
And last, but not least – Sean. He is now our full fledged Big Bad of a
season. Forget the Black Claw. Vindictive Wesen Mayor with so many resources at
his disposal is scarier than all the mayhem we saw last season. That is of
course if he is not arrested next episode for murder of Rachel. She might
just be that nail in his coffin.
Also, what’s the heck is wrong with him? He is seeing things (blood
mostly) and hears voices (of people he killed), so, is he on the road to being
haunted by all the bad things he did lately? I hope not. I hope it’s not a cop
out to bring him back to ‘friends’ circle. As much as I hate what they’ve done
to the character, I would’ve hated it even more if they turned him back now. Because
I think it is too late for that and the only road there is for him is ahead until
the very end.
If the last big fight of the series will be Nick on Renard kinda thing,
I’d watch that. I will be sad, but I’ll watch that.
Some observations
Episode’s opening quote
was: “Maybe this word is another planet’s hell”. Aldous Huxley, English
critic and novelist of 19th century said that. And that might be my
favorite of Grimm’s quotes.
I haven’t noticed the number
of this episode anywhere, but did notice the next one: 6x02 was on the door out
of the tunnels to the plant, that Monroe opened.
Trubel’s hair look a bit
different but it suits her better.
Rosalee and Monroe, and also Bud provided much needed smiles inducing lines.
Bud is in the refrigerator’s
repair business. Did we know that?
Why Eve doesn’t want Nick to
carry the stick around? Is she worried he might get the visions like she does?
Or is there another agenda?
How awfully easy it was for
Franco to turn on Nick. Come on! At least, he helped at the end, sort of.
Memorable Quotes:
Wu: “Um...
kind of looks like you were shot.”
Monroe: “Like, more than once.”
Wu: “You're
not a ghost, are you?”
Nick: “I
hope not.”
LOL. That was good.
Eve: “What
is it?”
Monroe: “It's connected with those keys. It's
some kind of stick thing the crusaders took when they sacked Constantinople.
They hid it in a chest and then buried it under a church in the Black Forest behind a bunch of skulls that, when you turn
the lights down, they kind of glow green and...”
Rosalee: “Long
story. Basically, we don't know what it is.”
Hank: “How
do we stop that son of a bitch?”
Wu: “There's
always a bullet. I'm sort of half joking.”
Hank: “I'm
sort of half laughing.”
Sol’s rating: glitching Sean and soul-cleansed
Eve… how do I rate this? Well, it was the worst season premiere of all, but it
did the job. A very poor one, but … it did. Here's hoping things will improve.
