Hank: “I didn't know beauty
qualified as talent.”
Neither did I. But the lesson to take from this one is - never take
anything from strangers and never go to their home or place of work alone at
night.
Second week in a row the case of the week is rather solid. I, for one,
liked it. Part of it was figuring out at first who was the perpetrator and who
was the victim. With Grimm, like any other supernatural show, you never know.
Darla from Buffy’s comes to mind. So that cute little brunette could very
easily turn into monster. But the second she had a drink he offered, I knew she
was a goner. Only she didn’t die right away. That kind of crime gives the
killer a perfect alibi, too bad Grimm was on the case and the killer was given away
his card left and right. A great and talented photographer by day with a
horrible murderous hobby, but I couldn’t understand his motives. He wasn’t that
interested in the financial aspect of it at first. I was also suspicious of
whether he was smart at all. He kept telling the doctor not to use it. What did
he think the beauty doc would do with the ‘fountain of youth’? Store it on the
shelve?
The side effect was brutal; by the end the doc lost his mind and face,
quite literally. I hope one time application won’t lead to such dramatic
results, otherwise there are going to be a lot of crazy women running around Portland.
Sean has officially announced he’s running for Mayor. Not sure how they
are going to proceed with this sub-plot. If elected he’ll be less present than
now, which basically takes him out completely. On the other hand, if they get a
new Captain, who is completely unaware of Grimms and Wesen of this world, it
could add some potentially interesting, funny and unpredictable stories.
Let’s talk about Eve for a second, because I like Eve. I think I know who
she is. She is a robot. Seriously! The way she talks and walks and interacts
with others. She is so detached from everything, it’s scary. Her plan was a
bold one. I thought she would change in Rachel, but changing into Sean was WOW!
As far as I remember this spell doesn’t last that long, so she better
hurry. Also, considering the side effects we saw the first time the witch hat
was used, I’m afraid to even imagine what this will do to Eve.
Some observations
Episode’s opening quote was: “It is amazing how complete is
the delusion that beauty is goodness.” Leo Tolstoy (“The Kreutzer Sonata”)
This time I was less
impressed with the special effects, a Mussasat Alsh-Shabab in woged state looked like he was wearing a mask.
Eve’s transformation into Sean on the other hand was creepy on every
level and very well done.
No follow up on Wu’s wolf infection. I guess we’ll have to wait for the
next full moon.
No number of the episode.
Memorable Quotes:
Monroe: “Pizza's here. Napkins. Just
please try to avoid the... the greasy fingers on the pages.”
Yes, thank you, Monroe.
Sol’s rating: solid 3. What did you think?
