“Stronger than lover’s love is lover’s hate. Incurable, in each, the
wounds they make.”
Well, two down… how many to go? It
makes me wonder what to expect from season finale? I am honestly a little bit
worried.
If the previous episode had me on the edge of my seat and excited about
what’s to come, this one left me a little bit disappointed.
First of all, Sean was confirmed to be possessed by a spirit that hitched
a ride with him after he was brought back from the dead. I wish I didn’t
guess, or I wish they revealed it sooner than it became obvious - well, Henrietta’s
murder was a dead giveaway. As a result the element of surprise was literally
non-existent.
I was however surprised how quickly Nick and Hank came to accept that he
is possessed. Equally as fast as Monroe and Rosalee found a way to get rid of the spirit by mixing few things in the magic
kettle. They are getting better at it
by the minute.
The second and the biggest disappointment was Kelly’s murder, and few
other disappointments around it. First of all, she was exactly as reckless as
the enemy thought she’d be. How very careless of her to come back like that. We
can write it off to her trusting
Juliette, but why on earth would she take a child with her, especially if she
thought Nick was in danger?
Second, it was obvious to anyone with eyes that Mary Elizabeth
Mastrantonio didn’t not reprise her role as Nick’s mother. Because of that we,
the audience, were deprived of the awesome fight to the death, and were meant
to believe that it was that easy to kill her.
I hate it when the writers make
characters act so out of character and kill them off for cheap shock value. I
understand if it was a creative decision to kill her off, but they at least
could have brought the actress back for that last scene. Because if we’d seen
her realizing it was a trap, if we’d seen her actually fight and die, the
impact would’ve been that much stronger. The head in the box did not impress
me. Sorry.
Also isn’t Diana supposed to be very powerful and very special? Yet, she didn’t
help the only mother she knew when some monsters were murdering her. Come on!
Again the character out of character thing. Agrrrr….
I think it is safe to say that Juliette has crossed that line. Not only
she indirectly participated in the murders of the neighbors, she also is
directly responsible for Kelly’s death. Okay, Kenneth and Co. killed her, but I
doubt it will be of any difference for Nick.
I have to say that Nick, Monroe and Rosalee have very quickly turned
their backs on Juliette. Ok, she threw Rosalee against the wall and threatened Monroe, but Nick was way
worse when he was a zombie, not to mention Adalind, who they tried to help lots
of times despite her murderous nature. Not that I’m saying that Juliette
deserves it, especially after what she’s done in this episode, but I felt it would
be fair to point out how quickly they stopped fighting for her. I think maybe she
felt it all along and that's what drove her to the edge. Is there a way for her to come back from that? I
honestly don’t think so.
If Kelly’s murder didn’t have any impact on me due to its behind-the-scenes
nature, Nick’s reaction when he saw his mother’s head broke my heart. The lack
of music for this scene made perfect sense and made it that much more tragic.
There is no way to predict what he will be capable of after that gruesome
discovery. I am glad Trubel is back. I feel like we’re gonna need a Grimm who is capable
of thinking straight.
Some observations
So, Sean’s home looks exactly the same as his apartment used to look
like. But this house is so very different from an apartment building downtown.
When did he move? Did I miss it? I know it’s silly, but for some reason it bugs
me.
Considering how easily they took down Kelly, was it really necessary for
them to kill all the neighbors?
Kenneth was no match for Sean in his Zauberbiest form,
how did he survive the fight with a Grimm?
The hint
of sex that I picked up last week between Kenneth and Juliette paid off. Not
that I care.
This time
I caught the number of the episode. It was the number of Wu’s patrol car, I first heard Nick
saying it and then I saw the number.
Hats off to Sasha Roiz for a brilliant performance while under
possession. He was mesmerizing.
Memorable Quotes:
Kenneth: “Weston Steward had
his head cut off here. Sean was shot here. Such a happy home.”
Now, that Kelly was also killed here and all of
Nick’s immediate neighbors are dead, it might be a good time for Nick to move
Hank: “Before
we go in there, if he's dealing with what we think he's dealing with, who the
hell are we gonna be talking to?”
Nick: “Or
what?”
Hank: “Okay,
that didn't help at all.”
Bud: “I don't know how you
guys do it, living with all this tension all the time.”
Sol’s rating: for Sasha Roiz’s performance I’d
give it a 5. For the rest just 3.
