“Oh, from this time forth, my thoughts be bloody or be nothing worth.”
This was a case of the week that was investigated and closed in Grimm
style. With little help from Adalind they set a trap for Kenneth, who was stupid
enough to walk right in it; and paid with his life. That is what happens, when
you meet with a Grimm one on one in a fair fight. I said it before and I’ll say
again - the fight sequences on this show are extremely well done, this one was
no exception, it was very realistically choreographed and executed.
Loved that Wu left his badge at home and joined the group, despite being told not to, and considering the rather illegal nature of the plan.
Memorable Quotes:
Nick: “No. We're doing this my way.”
Hmm… I did not see this coming. It
made perfect sense story wise, but I didn’t even entertain the idea. Well,
every now and then the shows you watch do surprise you in a good way,
especially when you avoid spoilers at all cost.
When they went after Juliette and the King I kept thinking they should
have taken Sean with them, after all, the King is his father and Diana is his
daughter. But he was not included. He was very much absent from all the actions
that he should have been involved in. Granted he just been possessed and have
to come to terms with him killing three women. Still. If felt like he should have been
there.
Judging by the emotions that were flashing on Juliette’s face throughout
this episode, she wasn’t that far gone…. She obviously was relieved
when Nick got away. Was it because she loved him, as she said at the end, or
was it because she wanted to kill him herself? Maybe a little bit of both. I
don’t think she stayed behind by King’s orders, because he clearly stated that
her job was done. I think she stayed because the Hexenbiest part of her wanted
to kill Nick, BUT the Juliette part of her was hoping he would kill her first.
Much like Nick gave Kenneth a fighting chance, Juliette offered the same
to Nick. Let’s be honest, he was no match for her in her Hexenbiest form, no
matter how strong a Grimm he is. The fact that she didn’t change when he was
strangling her told me that she felt a certain amount of guilt and wanted to be punished. Unfortunately or fortunately, for Nick
she was a woman he loved and part of him probably still felt guilty for her
condition, so there was no way he would ever be able to kill her, beast face or not.
He was clearly not going to defend himself either, and Juliette could’ve easily killed
him. Do you think she would, if Trubel didn’t stop her? I think she would. At
this point in the story it was obvious Juliette had to go, and if Nick had to
do it he might have never recovered from that. It felt very appropriate that it was
Trubel.
The flashback to Diana’s birth had me confused. At first I took it as a
sign of her seeing Meisner and remembering that he helped her and her mother.
Then I started to think that maybe the flashback was just for us, in case we
forgot who Meisner was. Since the latter is insulting to the audience’s
capacity to follow the series, I’d like to think it’s the former, plus it’s
kind of cool that she can remember something that happened when she wasn’t even born
yet.
We haven’t seen that much of the King to form a proper attachment to the
character, but his complete disregard for the life of his sons and nephews
made his fall to the bottom of the ocean a very deserving end. The fact that he
got to see his corpse before he became one (courtesy of Diana) was even more
satisfying.
So… The King is dead! Long live the King! Who would that be? How many
sons does the King have and who is the heir to the throne? Could it be Sean?
Could it be Diana? I keep forgetting about Viktor….
The episode ended on a mild cliffhanger. The FBI lady whose name for the
life of me I can’t remember, and don’t care enough to look it up, was back with
a squad of agents to bring Trubel in… or back? I’m not too clear on that
part. From the looks of it all this time we thought Trubel was protecting Josh
she was in fact working for the FBI. Or running from them. Either way I’m not sure
I care. Yet.
Some observations
David Giuntoli deserves the acting award this week for some of his best scenes - from
the opening scene of him screaming, to realization of Juliette’s betrayal and
to those final moments at his house.
Juliette said she didn’t know they would kill Kelly. Hmm… did she think they’d
just politely ask her to hand over Diana and Kelly would do it? Come on! What
an unnecessary cop out, we got that she was feeling guilty, because Bitsie
was able to portray all of the conflicting emotions quite clearly.
Hank was not going to
intervene in the fight at the warehouse. I thought he would.
The second Kenneth was dead
I knew they’d pin Ripper’s murders on him.
Why would the King take a
long boat ride back to Europe? Doesn’t he have
a jet standing by or like five?
Rosalee stayed behind to
help Bud protect Adalind. How is she any better fighter than Bud with his bat?
Loved that Wu left his badge at home and joined the group, despite being told not to, and considering the rather illegal nature of the plan.
It made me smile, that Trubel still prefers decapitation
as the method of killing Wesen. I guess it the only sure thing.
Kenneth hotel room number was 422.
Memorable Quotes:
Trubel: “Good-bye,
Juliette.”
Sol’s rating: Juliette and Kelly, the King and
Kenneth [and the head of Verrat] are all dead. They certainly cleared the stage
quite nicely. 4 out of 5.
See you
this fall.
