Grimm: 4x14 “Bad Luck”

“No one is so thoroughly superstitious as the godless man”

Juliette: “Is that forever?”

Bad Luck indeed. The way they ended the previous episode left fans in general and me in particular in anticipation. I had lots of expectations.  Boy, this episode did not live up to any of them!

Nick is on the couch. Again. Kinda not fair to Juliette whose current predicament is a direct result of her trying to help him get his Grimm back. Clearly he is afraid of her to some extent and if Henrietta’s demonstration of  her powers is anywhere accurate, he probably should be.

Accepting Juliette for who she is now is not the same as accepting Nick for who he is. The ability to see wesen made him a better cop, but he still is Nick (him going pale and dead like for no reason not counting; BTW when are they going to address that?). Juliette on the other hand is clearly changing and not for the better.

Two conversations they had were probably my favorite of all their scenes. Call me weird, but their relationships were always sort of dull, that is until Juliette became Hexenbiest interesting. This story holds tons of potentially good plots and right now it's the best they’ve got.

The rest was just simply weak. The major plots got like 5 seconds of attention. The case of the week, on the other hand, took way too much of a screen time.

Since there is no way to avoid it,  let’s talk about Adalind, who is pregnant. Again! We haven’t even started to sort out the mess with the first child, who is supposed to be oh so powerful and we already have another one on the way. Since writers confirmed this pregnancy has nothing to do with Claire Coffee’s real life pregnancy, why would they think it was a good idea?

Most importantly how is it possible? I’m talking about the timeline and not birds and bees. The sex-trap happened ages ago! Even if time goes differently in the series, it's still been  awhile. How could she have not known? But then again, who am I to question Hexenbiest anatomy?

And why Adalind automatically assumed Nick was the father? If memory serves she was sleeping with Sean right up until she slept with Nick. So the chances of Sean being the father are probably higher. As are her chances of survival is she switches sides. She was right about one thing, Victor needs her only until they find a child, afterwards she is useless to him.

Some observations

So, my question was answered – Nick can not take Juliette’s powers away, because his blood is in Adalind and it was through Adalind that Juliette became Hexenbiest, so the blood of a Grimm can't be a solution here. Well, if you say so.

According to Adalind if Juliette is a Hexenbiest means someone helped Nick become a Grimm again. Apparently it is simple wesen math. I though it was the other way around – I thought because Juliette helped Nick to get his powers back she became Hexenbiest!

The rabbit-mom said they just moved to Portland, yet the rabbit-son already got himself a girlfriend. I guess if you have a left rabbit foot permanently attached to you, good luck is on your side. That is until it gets chopped off, of course.

Speaking of, isn’t it a rule, that whenever a wesen dies he\she turns back to his\her human self. Shouldn’t it apply to feet as well?
