Trubel: “If you could choose to be
a Grimm or not, what would you do?”
You don’t need to be super
strong to take out a Grimm, all you need is a woman. Here it was “chercher la
femme” in action. Prep some potion, smoke some fumes through the witchy hat, add
sex to the mix and you got yourself a recipe for Grimm no more. What a simple way,
although a bit easy, not to mention ridiculous, but who cares? It’s the consequences
that matter.
Apologies to all Juliette/Nick shippers out
there, but I have never seen the appeal of this couple, so them hitting some
more bumps on the road had less impact on me than Nick losing his powers. So in terms of consequences, I will start with the less important one, at least for me as a viewer.
Nick slept with Juliette and
didn’t even notice it wasn’t her. What does that say about their relationship? One
thing for sure, their sex life must have been pretty boring since Nick was very
obviously knocked out after that bedroom scene with Adalind. You could see it
on his face that it was different this time. I bet Juliette never greet him in
lingerie and initiates sex in the middle of the day. It is
not her style, like she pointed out later, like why would she do something like
that when they were late for a wedding, or something to that extent. He didn’t mind a quick stop during
dressing up, she didn’t even have the thought cross her mind. Those two are
certainly on different pages.
It is one more straw [but
will it be the last? one can hope, right?] for Juliette, who suddenly [over the
course of the last few episodes] started having problems with Nick being a
Grimm. It’s not like he can drop all this Grimm business whenever he wants.
It’s his destiny, his calling. Nick couldn’t give a straight answer to Trubel
when she asked that question [see the opening quote]. He never had a choice in
the matter. His Grimm-nature chose him. So he accepted it and moved on dealing with it
the best he can. What is the point of asking how things would have gone had it
been differently. Of course his life would have been easier, but certainly more
dangerous [it is always better to see the demons you’re fighting] and definitely less
exciting. Now, he has an opportunity to realize what his life might be without
his Grimm abilities. I’m sure he will get them back. If Adalind’s story taught
us anything is that powers can be restored. I only hope it will be less
invasive in Nick’s case, since it seems all he has to do is to drink the
potion, and I’m sure Rosalee will cook something up. I also hope it will not be
resolved in the premiere episode, because the idea of him dealing with his
non-Grimm state and doing his police work without supernatural powers will be very
interesting to see and explore next season.
Trubel ruining the wedding
was a total mess. Thank God it happened at the end and nobody died. The wedding ceremony was absolutely beautiful, the location was lovely, their wows brought me to
tears, and thankfully they got rid off that ugly dress. That had to be the quickest 'shopping for a wedding dress' in a history, they literally picked it in like seconds, but this dress that Monroe’s parents paid for [how very sweet of
them] was a million times better.
It took Sean a bit longer than I would expected from a
police captain and someone who has intimate and first-hand knowledge of how
Adalind operates to figure out exactly what’s going on, but he
got there. He pieced book and potion together and rushed to help Nick, only he was
too late. At least he managed to tell Trubel what he knew, before he got shot.
Now, that was a so OMG moment! I literally jumped, partly because I completely forgot about the rogue FBI agent and his vendetta. Sure, we saw him pick up his passport and money,
but I thought he was leaving.
Now,
they are no writing Sean off, right? I haven’t heard any rumors of Sasha Roiz
leaving the show, but then again I always try to avoid any spoilers. Those gun
shot wounds looked pretty serious, but he is half hexenbiest, so I’m hoping it
shouldn’t be that easy to kill him.
My favorite moment was the
scene when everyone were trying to explain the minister why Nick had to wear
sun glasses at the wedding.
Some observations
Was
Rosalee’s sister always a drunk?
The idea to
move the trailer to another place was a good one, the place Nick chose however
is not. Anyone could stumble upon it in the middle of the woods, even if it’s
Nick’s land.
Now, after
Wu saw the books with scary monsters it will be very hard to write it all off
to hallucinations.
‘The ugly dress ruined’
seems to be a common theme this year, at least Becket’s dress on Castle wasn’t
that hideous.
Why
was Juliette a maid of honor and not Rosalee’s sister?
As I was
expecting, Bitsie Tulloch did
quite a mediocre work impersonating Adalind pretending to be Juliette. The only
time she ‘looked’ like Adalind is when she was leaving the house after the sex
scene. The rest was just Juliette acting strangely. In my opinion.
I have
missed the episode number this time. Did anyone catch it?
Nick was
wearing prescription sun glasses and could barely see anything, and now he is
Wesen-blind. Nice metaphor that was signaling us all along what was going to happen.
Grimm broke
its tradition to end the season with a two-parter with ‘to be continued’ onto the next
season.
Memorable Quotes:
Rosalee: “When we first met, I didn't know what to make of you. And it wasn't under the best of circumstances. I had just lost my brother d was going through a very difficult time. But once
I met you, you just lifted my spirits, and you poured happiness back into my
life. And it's
only gotten better ever since. I love you”.
Monroe: "I wasn't really a believer in love at first sight until I met you. Although, to be honest, it wasn't really love at first sight much as it was love at first brick... Because if you hadn't hit that guy when you did, I don't think I would be standing here today. It is the life you saved with that brick... I now give to you heart and soul. Now and forever."
Sol’s
rating: It was not a heavy-action packed finale, the kind we got used to when
we watch Grimm, nor was it spectacular, but it was enjoyable enough, the
wedding was beautiful, the set up for the next season looks promising, so 3 out
of 5.
Everybody knows by now that Grimm has been renewed for season four. See you this fall.
