Hank: “Yeah, we can say she's a,
uh... criminology student?”
Family could be a lot of
things and have different meaning for different
people for different reasons. For Nick family means a lot. He lost his parents at a young age, but he
did know the comfort of having someone who loves you unconditionally. It makes
sense that he brought Trubel home. Knowing how hard it must have been for her not
having anyone who she could share this horror with, and most importantly no one
who could understand, explain and help. They are distantly related [emphasis
on distantly], albeit through centuries; they do share a bloodline and a Grimm
gene, therefore are a family.
Since Trubel’s adoptive
parents were killed by a worst-kind of Wesen, she never had a family or a sense
of a safe home. I thought it would take her longer to start trusting Nick or
anyone else for that matter, especially cops. The transformation was done
beautifully though; the first night at Nick’s place she even slept on top of the
covers, fully dressed, ready to storm out and run if needed. Then, by the end
of an episode, she felt safe enough in the house and around those people to sleep comfortably in bed under the covers wearing pajamas.
Loved Nick bringing Trubel over to
Rosalee and Monroe to show her that not all of Wesen are bad. The scene was adorable, and made
me think that Monroe and Rosalee will be great parents someday. And Teresa
might be a newbie Grimm but the first question she asked was the RIGHT one: “How
do you know I'm a Grimm?” If only Nick was as curious we might have gotten the answer long time ago.
Come to think of it she might
not be a newbie per se. She didn’t know who she was and why she sees what she
sees, but she might have been fighting Wesen as long as Nick, and probably even longer
than Nick. So technically she might know much more. Her having those
journals where she draws wesen and writes along the description and the ways
to kill them was a nice touch. She might have been in a dark about her purpose
and role but she intuitively followed the right path. It must be a gene indeed.
I like Trubel. She is smart,
proactive and resourceful; she learns fast and pays attention and they wouldn’t
have wrapped this case that fast if it hadn’t been for her. She might have immediately
dismissed even the thought of becoming a cop, but she definitely has it in her
to be a good one. I liked that she took
initiative during the investigation. Surely she has lots to learn but her head
and heart are in the right place.
The character has a potential, I loved her dynamic with pretty much everyone, but what exactly is the plan? Having her introduced so close to season finale could mean two things, either she bites the dust in the finale or joins the cast the next season. While I certainly don’t want her to die, having three Grimms running around Portland is a bit much. I’m starting to worry for the rest of the world.
Moving on…
I was sure the night will
end badly for Sean, but he survived. Looks like, whatever Viktor wants, has
more to do with something belonging to Adalind’s mother than with our Captain. In
a secret storage room of a late Catherine Shade among bottles with potions and
what not, Adalind found what she was looking for: a book. Desperately and unsuccessfully trying to open it with her full Hexenbiest force, she finally manages to do so by accidentally spilling her blood onto the book and voila! “Of course, it has to be blood” as Spike would say. Now the question is
what is it in that book? Some spells, perhaps?
Wonderful Sam Anderson showed up at the end of an episode with
yet another key in his hand. I’m assuming it’s one of the other two that are
still unaccounted for. You can tell we are approaching a season finale, because
the key always emerges right around this time.
Some observations
Juliette didn’t like that
Nick brought home a young woman who he shares so much with. Was Juliette
jealous? And most importantly is Nick being a Grimm the reason why Juliette
doesn’t want to rush with the wedding? Does she prefer to keep the door open?
And if yes, what does that say about their relationship?
Nice moment
between Trubel and Wu ‘not sharing’ their nightmares.
Ken the
doll killed poor Cammy with a suffocating blood draining kiss; it was most definitely
the ugliest and most horrendous kiss in the history of tv mankind, wesen or
otherwise.
The dog
that found Cammy’s body was adorable, his/her name [Delta] however was not.
Donna’s
apartment number was 320.
Memorable Quotes:
Juliette: “She's
a murder suspect?”
Nick: “Well,
not technically a suspect, because we know she did it, but it was self-defense.”
Teresa: “Gotta
be wesen.”
Wu: “Who's
"Vesson"?”
Nick: “You
were saying?”
Teresa: “It's,
uh... German. Yeah, it means that, you know, "there's no blood left."
Nick didn’t
help her out, but she was quick to come up with an answer.
