“Nobody knows the trouble I’ve seen,
nobody knows my sorrow”
|
Teresa: “They call me Trubel.”
I bet! Young girl with
powers to see and fight monsters without knowing why or how, constantly
questioning her state of mind, she must have been trouble alright! Back in
season two we learned that women know of their Grimm-abilities sooner than men. Unlike
Nick’s mother who had her father to explain the Wesen world to her, unlike Nick
who had his aunt, poor Teresa didn’t have anyone. How is she still sane, beats
me!
Usually when there is a girl
about to be attacked by someone, the chances are she will be fine and the perpetrator will
end up dead, unless of course you’re watching Criminal Minds. Most of
supernatural shows use this trick, pretend the girl is in danger only to have
her turn into some kind of even worse
monster, which gives her an upper hand in this situation. Darla [from Buffy
pilot] comes to mind. So when we saw this girl taken by those two jerks I
didn’t worry about her at all. Of course at a time I thought she was a Wesen.
It was clever not to show us exactly how it all happened. I initially though it
was to raise the suspense; a misdirect for us to think that may be she will end
up dead. No, it was done, so we couldn’t see that she stayed human throughout
the fight.
I must say I guessed she might
be a Grimm before the reveal. Show of hands: how many of you knew that? That many?! For me the
confirmation was the fact that she didn’t woge during the fight with that wesen
girl. Also the casting. I have no idea whether it was deliberate or not, but
the girl strangely looks a hell of a lot like Nick. She is probably not his
relative, although we know that the abilities are inherited, but I guess there
could be more Grimm families than we know of. Or lots of descendants from original
Grimm family. I wish we got a clear explanation of how many Grimms are there or could be there at one period of time
and how exactly it works.
Poor Adalind, throughout the
episode she was asking for help the very people who took her baby away. First
Nick and Juliette, then Sean, Rosalee and Monroe. The only one she didn’t turn
to was Hank. :) That could have been awkward. All this time all I could think of is that her revenge will be
epic when she learns the truth.
She is like a walking ticking bomb. She is so desperate that she’s
willing to do anything to be with her baby again. I’m seriously worried about
Sean. Viktor knows, or at least, suspects Sean is the one behind Eric’s death.
He knows Sean is with the Resistance. We also met King Frederick [a royal uncle], who very clearly spelled out exactly what’s gonna
happen to Viktor if he doesn’t start to yield some results. For now, Viktor is
loosing on all fronts; Eric’s killer is still at large and he didn’t get the
baby. So, what does this all mean for our Captain? What exactly Viktor 'blackmailed' Adalind to do? Kill
Sean or just distract him enough so the homicidal ex-FBI agent lurking in the
dark could kill him? They are not going to kill him off, are they?I hope not.
Some observations
In one of
my previous reviews from season one or two I raised a question regarding a baby
photo in Sean’s office. He lives alone, we never heard anything about him
having a wife or a child. In this episode we could clearly see a wedding ring.
Was that deliberate? My first thought was that Sasha forgot to take his ring
off, but then I remembered that he is not married. If anyone has any
explanation, please share.
Loved the “recycling
style a la Monroe
& Rosalee".
Teresa
Rubel, so we take the first letter of a name, add last name and we’ve got
ourselves a Trubel, which sounds like trouble – how very unusual and cool and, considering the character, very fitting.
So when
Nick took Adalind’s powers his blood mixed with hers and now she has some of
his blood in her system that makes her much more powerful. This can’t be good.
Memorable Quotes:
Nick: “Too
bad there's not a box you can check if they're wesen.”
Hank: “Yeah.
Wouldn't that just make our lives so much easier?”
Hank: “A
couple beer bottles”
Nick: “Whiskey
bottle.”
Hank: “A
little late to arrest them for DUI. But in retrospect, I'm sure they would have
preferred that”
King Frederick:
“It always comes down to a woman, doesn't it? Wars are waged, kingdoms lost,
hearts
broken.”
Nick: “What
kind of female young wesen could take on a Klaustreich and a Lausenschlange?”
Hank: “You're
speaking rhetorically, right?”
Monroe: “Wow, taking on a Lausenschlange and
a Klaustreich at the same time? That takes
some
seriously large... well, in her case, figurative cojones.”
Sol’s
rating: I loved it, so 4 out of 5.
