“‘No,’ said the King. ‘I had rather die than place
you in such great
danger as you must
meet with in your journey”

Of course it will. It is a
finale, a wedding with all sorts of wesen attending, not to mention two Grimms, and that very special guest in
disguise that no one invited. Hell will certainly break loose. But I believe
that will be the next episode. Let’s catch up on what happened in this,
penultimate one.
It's raining Grimm in Portland, because Sam Anderson played yet another one of this kind. I could have guessed, since he had a
key, but with this Grimm universe you never know who is supposed to have what
and when or even why. I liked his son Josh, who did everything his father told
him to do, even when he thought it was crazy. He did it anyway out of love. He
may not be a Grimm, but he is a good son. He helped his father find another Grimm and Nick is now a proud owner of a
trunk full of Grimm-goodness and most importantly the key. The key count is now 4 to 2 I believe, Royal Families have 4 and Nick now has 2, and there is only one left.
Trubel proves to be an effective addition to the team-Grimm. I loved her
phone conversation with Nick where she stated all the facts straight and didn’t
waste any precious time. And dare I say she fights a bit better than Nick and
Hank combined. She’s like Nick’s secret weapon, so it was a good call not involve
her in a fight with Verrat agents, so they wouldn’t know she’s a Grimm. Not
that she listened to him. No surprise here! She loves spaghetti and plays chess, there is
something spectacular in this combination. Did I say I like her character? I
believe so.
So the book indeed contained a hell of a spell. When Adalind, while
preparing the potion, took that pointy witch hat, I said out loud: “If she
puts it on her head, I’m done with this show”. Thankfully she didn’t. And I was
totally unprepared for what came next. I knew it will have something to do with
Juliette because of things Adalind picked up at Nick’s house, but this?! This I
did not expect. And I absolutely hated the idea. For two reasons. First,
haven’t we done this already? The ‘Potion+Juliette in danger’ combination. I don't believe it was a body-swap spell, so I assume
Adalind will have to get the real Juliette out of the way for her plan to work.
I should probably reserve my judgment until the finale, but I am very very skeptical.
I’ve come to like Adalind as a character [can’t believe I just wrote that], and
her masquerading as Juliette means Claire Coffee unfortunately will not be present in the
finale. That is not a second reason, just an observation. The second reason is
that I don’t think Bitsie Tulloch is a good enough actress to pull this off. I don’t mean any disrespect.
That’s just my opinion. But then again, maybe she will surprise me.
Some observations
That family
dinner was weird awesome. Wesen, Grimms and Cops. The show knows how to throw a
dinner.
Why Sean didn’t pick up the phone and called Nick the second he
realized that Adalind was up to something no good.
This time
it was Monroe who brought up the recurring theme of ‘how Juliette’s handling things’.
Juliette’s
idea of helping Trubel settle in is to take her shopping?
When I
looked at them searching for a key I couldn’t help but notice that team-Grimm
has gotten tremendously bigger.
I must say
the morphing between Adalind, her Hexenbiest self and Juliette was phenomenal,
but then again Grimm has been always stellar in this department.
There is a
special section “D” within Verrat – ‘Verrat Ahnenerbe’ tasked with finding
anything involving
rare objects, the occult, and the supernatural. Good to know.
That was
one crafty set of lock-picking set of magic keys, or more precisely magic skeleton
key that Adalind used to get into Nick’s house.
Josh and
his father-Grimm stayed in the room 3x21. I noticed
something: not only the episode number is indicated somewhere in the episode,
it is always a door number, usually of a hotel or motel.
Memorable Quotes:
Trubel: “Well,
I really didn't expect to live this long.”
Sean to
Adalind: “I don't see any reason not to take you at your word.”
Seriously
Sean? It is Adalind!
Josh: “I
guess breaking and entering is not that big a deal once you've killed a guy.”
Juliette: “Why
do you carry that around with you?”
Trubel: “I
like the way it moves. You know, different than any other piece.”
Rosalee: “I
know we both had this idea of the big tent, bringing everyone together to
celebrate: your family, my family, a Grimm. But I think we're crazy.”
Trubel: “What's
up with this key he keeps talking about?”
Nick: “It's
a long story. Has to do with the crusades and a bunch of knights who were Grimms
who found
something that they thought no one else should have, so they buried it in the
black forest and made a bunch of keys that had a map that supposedly leads to
where it is. That enough?”
Trubel: “Good
enough for now.”
Sol’s
rating: Certainly 'good enough' for a penultimate episode. 4 out of 5.
