Wu: “We're all doomed.”
Well, we are almost at the end of the road…
No. No-no-no-no! They didn’t just do that?!! Did they?
Joss Whedon taught the fans that death is inevitable, it happens, it also
happens to the main characters. So when you are watching a drama with supernatural
aspects you should be prepared for the possible loss, and if this drama is
airing its last episodes, you should also brace yourself for an enormous body
count that will most definitely include some of the favorites.
Hank and Wu were the first to go. It was so sudden, quick and unexpected,
I couldn’t believe my eyes. I was shocked. I was completely taken off guard, mostly
because I actually wasn’t prepared for the blood bath. I started watching the
episode fully confident that they will find a way to defeat this skull guy. (I
can’t pronounce his name, let alone write it down, so skull guy it is.) I mean we
have a Zauberbiest, a Hexenbeiet, a Blutbaden, a Fuchsbau and a Gimm (two of them actually), not to mention Diana and her
incredible powers. Piece of cake. Or so I thought.
There was a hint, that I caught - the goodbye scene in that lost little
cabin in the woods, where it all started six years ago. We’ve come full circle.
And as Nick said goodbye to his son, I said out loud: “My God, he’s gonna
die!”. Then Adalind and Nick said their goodbyes and it felt so final and so
fatal, it took my breath away. My heart broke for those two because it felt
like they’re seeing each other for the last time. I think the casualty list
will be a long one….
So the skull guy has a big agenda, not only he wants the bride, the last
piece of the staff, but also Kelly. Why? I am not sure if Kelly has any of his
mother’s features, but we can safely assume he is a future Grimm. So does the
skull guy want to kill a Grimm before he even becomes one or is Diana just
projecting her fears?
As for defeating the skull guy himself, he probably could be killed in
his wolged state, which is human in this world. Or maybe it is much simpler and
all comes down to taking his staff away from him. Without it he might just be
completely powerless. I was quicker than our team of researchers. I figured
that the stick was a part of the staff on minute 5, they reached this
conclusion on 35th.
The staff lit up and like a beacon shown the skull guy the way, not to
Diana, but to the missing piece. He was following Nick all this time. We
haven’t seen the end of that fight, but what we saw was tragic and unexpected. Unless
they will reverse this somehow, like using the healing stick once again. Although
I hate to say goodbye to these two favorites, but erasing their death will be a
cruel joke. Or not? Will the stick even work? Does it work on humans? It could
technically heal Wu, but can it heal Hank? He is human and his wound was much much
serious.
Some observations
Episode’s opening quote
was: “You shall break them with the rod” and of course it is from the Bible. Psalm 2:9: 'You shall break them with a rod of
iron, You shall shatter them like earthenware.'"
There is a Wesen version of
a Bible. Of course there is.
Eve lost her Hexenbiest part
in the other place. Hell if I know what this means, but it was very unfortunate
considering the circumstances.
As predicted Trubel is back
and also as predicted she just might be the one who saves Nick.. or dies
trying.
Diana’s powers were never
explained, but she has some similarities with a skull guy, I mean her eyes turn
purple, his turn green.
We’re still
calling ‘stick’ a ‘stick’ but the staff got so many beautiful and wondrous
names:
Moses'
staff, the Ruyi Jingu Bang wielded by the immortal monkey king Sun Wukong, the
Kaladanda, the Staff of Death.
Memorable Quotes:
Wu: “Okay,
this is one big existential migraine.”
Wu: “Do we
wish we'd never known?”
Hank: “Not
at all, unless the real question is, "Are we crazy and don't even know it?"
Wu: “Wish
I'd never known that.”
Sol’s rating: it was good, 4 out of 5.
