Grimm: 6x10 “Blood Magic”

Monroe: “But one man loved the pilgrim soul in you, and loved the sorrows of your changing face.”

This was a wonderful installment. We still had a case of the week, but this time I didn’t mind, since it was a very beautiful and tragic story.

Makes sense, that Wesen Community, would have a fail-safe in place for those wesen who could reveal their kind and kill innocents due to dementia or other sorts of old age illnesses that could make them wolge unintentionally and uncontrollably.

As once before with Wesen Council, Nick was once again put face to face with a reality of Grimm world. It was satisfying to see how matured he became… He is still a cop, but he is more a Grimm.

I was absolutely amazed by how Adalind was able to make all the right decisions. Helping Eve, yet warning Nick about it. Standing up to Sean and not revealing anything, just sending him to Nick. Bravo, Miss Shade, you’ve come a long way.

In what world the words “Blood Magic” could ever lead to something less than danger and death? Eve found out how to open a portal and went straight in despite that. Even after she promised Nick she wouldn’t. Now, the only Hexenbiest they have who can open it again is Adalind, and I don’t like it.

Also, the logic is a bit off… this green-eyed skull thing is only coming after Eve, because she has experienced the grip of death. I think Nick is only able to see it because he is a Grimm. And Diana can see the symbols because well, she is special. So back to my point – it all started with Eve; well, with Nick saving her with a stick and after that it went downhill. What I’m so incoherently trying to say is – it’s sort of kind of Eve’s problem, and for them to make it such a big deal and turn into THE final fight is a bit disappointing….

On the other hand I might be wrong… the stick also brought Nick back to life and he is also connected to it… and writings on the cloth seem to predict something that is gonna happen in ‘the other place’ … so it makes sense… I only wish their logic was more clear. For example, why would they want or need to even go to that 'other place'? Whatever is about to happen there is not gonna influence this world, at least as far we know. Also, whatever that skull thing is, it clearly can’t come out, not without help; and going through the portal might be exactly the thing that will free it into this world….

We’ll see, I guess…. I hope they will come up with a better reasoning.

Some observations

Episode opened with a quote by Thomas Paine, an English-American political activist, philosopher, political theorist, and one of the Founding Fathers: “Nothing, they say, is more certain than death, and nothing more uncertain than the time of dying”.

Rosalee said Eve has nowhere to go, well, that is not true, she could go to Bud’s – that would’ve been hilarious to watch.

It was funny that the answer Eve was looking for was not in the book with a skull. It would’ve been too obvious, hah? And by the way, how did she know to shake that second book to make sense of the letters?

When Eve was opening the portal there was way TOO much blood on the mirror, considering the little cut.

Memorable Quotes:

Hank: “She woged and he freaked. It was self-defense.”

Adalind: “Okay, Diana? Make sure your brother doesn't fall off the bed. Oh, and no making him float either.”
LOL

Sol’s rating: I’d say it was solid 4 out of 5.
