Nick: “We're at war. And nobody
knows it.”
Riots are happening all over the world yet two out of (how many?) Grimms, super powerful revived Hexenbiest and Meisner and Co. are all in Portland,
where the situation is a picnic compared to the rest of the world. Is Portland somehow unique
in this sense? At least we now have a clear explanation of why the Black Claw is doing all this - they want a world run by Wesen... Got it!
Nick and others are still confused about Juliette. I’m with them on this
one. She seems to be a completely different person, she just happens to have
Juliette’s memories and her face. How did that happen exactly? What did they use to
revive her to completely alter her personality? Her powers are remarkably enhanced
(20 Wesen at once!), but at the core she is still doing the same things she was
able to do before, like moving and lifting people and objects and can literally get inside someone’s
head – that’s how she killed what’s his name in the last episode.
When they were in the high tech basement, it felt very strange. It didn’t
have a Grimm vibe. Lot’s of computers, lots of
screens, cameras – very 21st century. My Grimm is ancient books and
potions and weapons and Aunt Mary’s trailer. God, I miss the trailer.
Something else I noticed, and I believe I have already mentioned this to
some extent. How much things have changed. Grimm used to be a big secret that was
known only to few, Juliette used to be an outsider, unaware, looking in, even after
she learned the truth about Nick. Now it is
Nick who is an outsider of sorts looking in. And Eve is almost in charge…. Last
episode I thought they were locking her up, it turned out they didn’t. She is
there completely voluntarily.
Another person who is completely on board is Trubel. That whole scene at
the precinct when all knowing Trubel was spitting gibberish info about the
killed wesen, I was amazed by the role she is playing now in this whole fight. She
used to be always on the run, not aware of her purpose or why she was seeing
demons or who she was for that matter. Now she's been given a job and a purpose, of course she jumped head on when the
opportunity like this one presented itself. Did she rush into this being
fully unaware of who she is working for?
Do we trust this branch of federal government that doesn’t exist?
Meisner, Trubel and Eve are living in this prison type military bunker under
constant surveillance and don’t seem to mind. I found it very troubling. At
least Nick isn’t rushing into anything, and as Rosalee said they have to stay
together and make a unanimous decision.
Moving on... You can postpone a war but never a lunch crime…
The case of the week was a silly distraction in the midst of everything
that was going on and it proved once again that some people would do anything
for money. That bastard tried to get rich by using an alcoholic wesen to scare
and kill innocent people. He was so greedy to tried to get rid of his own brother. What a
conniving son of bitch! He deserved the end he got.
Trubel’s readiness to
execute rubbed me the wrong way a bit. As did Nick’s willingness to kill the
murderer, rather than prosecute him. He didn’t used to be like that, or at
least this sort of decision wasn’t that easy for him to make before. I realize it is difficult to convict
someone like that, but maybe some sort of detention facility would be better
instead of ‘we can’t arrest , go kill’ approach.
Some observations
Episode's opening quote was: “A sucker is born every minute”. It means "People are foolish, and will always be fools" and in this case it is a reference to to idiots/brothers and their customers.
The whole set up in the restaurant
last episode was not Meisner testing Nick; it was Eve seeing if Nick can handle
himself. Not that makes more sense…
Nice continuance with Eve mentioning Hitler, since we knew from season one that Hitler was Wesen.
Wesen uprisings are happening in Brazil,
Northern Ireland, Turkey, Syria,
Yemen, Pakistan, and Ukraine. Choose your travel destination carefully.
Nick might not have been able to bury Juliette, but at least he got to
say final goodbye at his mom’s grave. That was a nice touch.
That whole conversation in Renard’s office was like music to my ears.
Finally they are on the same page about Meisner's involvement and all. That was
refreshing.
That reptile wesen moving under water was nicely done.
Eve had a display of different wigs in her room. Bitsie’s short hair cut
suits her.
Luisant-Pêcheur is very cute.
Rosalee had another letter from her ex-boyfriend. Still don’t care.
No Adalind.
No number of the episode hidden…. One of those days I will go back to my
reviews to try to understand if there is pattern for those numbers appearing in
the episode.
Memorable Quotes:
Hank: “Thinking
this lake monster is Wesen?”
Sean: “I
don't believe in monsters unless they're people. And this one is guilty of
murder.”
Trubel: “Guess
it's better to believe in a monster than know the truth.”
Hank: “Yeah,
'cause you can always convince yourself a monster's not real.”
Nick: “Reality
is definitely not what it used to be.”
Sol’s rating: not spectacular, but not bad.
3ish?
