“More and more she grew to love human beings and wished that she could leave the sea and live among them” |
Nick: “Nobody is Jake, it’s Portland”
After few strong episodes it was inevitable to
have a so-so filler-episode. This was certainly not bad, but it wasn’t great.
Also it didn’t feel like a Grimm episode. At the beginning I even had to check
whether I was watching the right series or not.
The family of naiads – father and three
daughters - lives peacefully in Portland
until it is time for the girls to start their own families. Grooms to be arrive from Alaska and bring the old days traditions
with them along with their revenge against mortal men.
Since naiads are sort of kind of “real” creatures there was a
certain lack of wesenness (if that’s not a word, it should be) to them. The
case was not very interesting and as soon as those two naiad men showed up it
was pretty obvious they were the ones who killed Dan and tried to kill Jake.
On to the interesting parts.
Nick continues to develop extra powers, like
heightened hearing and the ability to hold breath for a prolonged period of
time and under water. If the first one certainly falls into plus column, the
second definitely does not and it was Hank this time who noticed that Nick looked
dead. They keep coming back to that word! Damn!
Nick lets Juliette check his emails! How very trusting! But then again when you have nothing to hide and she already knows your biggest secret why not. Although it
seems to backfire now that she read an email she wasn’t supposed too. I avoid spoilers to the best of my abilities,
so I don’t know what’s to come, but I will go ahead and assume that “M” in the
email stands for “mother”. I have no idea what is happening in "Hostages" at this point,
but really hope Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio isn’t too busy playing the First Lady
because it would be great to see mama-Grimm again. But that was a very confusing email she sent because it
was meant to read as if she had something to do with Eric’s death. But we know
it was Meisner, hired by Sean, who killed Eric. It’s not
like there was some other Royal assassination that happened at the same time. I
guess we’ll see.
Some observations
Opening
credits are back to a short version. Much better.
Nothing much happened with Rosalee and Monroe
in this one – they were too busy moving in together and very slowly unpacking
tons of boxes of her things.
When Monroe talks about clocks
and watches there really is no end of it, is it?
This time I
did catch the number of the episode – on the door of Jake’s apartment, probably
because the number was too huge to miss.
Sean seemed to figure out that Adalind is the one carrying the baby. But it didn’t
look like he deduced it might be his?
Sean and
Sebastian spoke French. Come to think of it one is in Portland,
another is in Vienna
– why would they speak French at all?
Memorable Quotes:
Sean: “Just
'cause they're wesen, it doesn't entitle them to special treatment.”
That’s
something coming from a wesen!
Sol’s
rating: 3 out of 5, mostly for the last 10 minutes.
