Wu: “Love looks not with the eyes,
but with the heart, and therefore is lost to Cupid's mighty dart.”
This was Grimm's response to
a Valentine’s Day. I think.
I was Monroe’s
birthday and the group got together in a lovely hotel to celebrate. If only all
of them could get away for a week-end and celebrate and be happy and not worry about
ancient riddles and artifacts… But then it wouldn’t be Grimm.
The hotel’s employee, who also happened to be an ugly Cupiditas wesen,
cursed them all with Amor de Infierno because Nick arrested his father for
murder. If it wasn’t for Rosalee being pregnant this hilarious situation may
have turned into something horrible.
It was fun. They paired everyone beautifully – Monroe
was in love with Eve, Eve with Nick, Nick was in love with Rosalee, and Adalind
with Monroe. No
one was in love with Adalind. Was Hank supposed to be in love with Adalind?
Then Rosalee was supposed to be in love with Hank? Then by that logic it is not
clear who Wu was supposed to be in love with? Now, my head hurts, but what a
mess it would have been!
Instead Wu was smitten with a waitress, who accidentally spilled a tiny bit
of his sparkly on herself, at least I think that’s how it happened.
Interesting, that being a violent creature himself Wu’s obsession was the least
violent of all. He did pursue the poor girl but he didn’t touch her once.
Instead he recited poems and was ready to take his own life. And Hank, Hank was
in love with himself. He drunk from a glass meant for Rosalee, and got a double
dose of love. Hank’s love obsession was the funniest of them all. Hats off to Russell
Hornsby! He was on fire!
Back in
town Diana was spending week-end at her dad’s. Of course she spilled all the
secrets she wasn’t supposed to. Well, she didn’t spill it but said enough for
Sean to do the math. Quick parenting advice: if you want your child to keep a
secret, don’t emphasize it so much or you’ll get an opposite result. What
happened next was a failed kidnapping by a police officer who wanted to hurt
Sean. It was interesting to see Sean live through parents’ worse nightmare for
few minutes when your brain stops functioning and you are scared out of your
mind for your child. Then he remembered that his child is Diana, who is more
than capable of defending herself. That’s exactly what’s happened. She played
with her kidnapper like he was one of her dolls. At first it felt like he
deserved it, but it quickly turned into something … sadistic, that is the best
word I have for it. It was satisfying to see her sending him flying across the
room for the first time, but right after it became horrifying. Diana completely
lacks any sense of what is acceptable behavior and what is not. She is not
exactly one to blame, all she’s seen in her life is violence. No wonder she’s
so used to it. No one ever taught her what’s good and what’s bad. The situation
became even worse now, that she has three parents but they are too preoccupied
to do something about it. Plus I think Sean is only encouraging her, whereas
Adalind is simply scared.
I also
noticed that Diana has an interesting view on death. She can feel that people
died in the room, but she doesn’t know or feel that someone is dead, like
Kelly. Nor does she quite understand what it means, like in case with Meisner
who she was told was dead, yet she keeps talking about wanting to see him as if
he will come back. Either she doesn’t understand what dead mean, or ‘dead’
means something else to her entirely.
While we
are talking about dead – what the hell was that scull in the mirror turned
portal? Nick and Eve saw it and it distinctively saw them. That was freaky and
not something you wish to see after a shower or any other time actually.
Some observations
Episode’s opening quote “Love looks not with the eyes,
but with the mind, and therefore is winged Cupid painted blind” belongs to none other than Sir William. It’s
from A Midsummer Night's Dream.
Another episode takes place in a hotel and believe it or not – no number
of the episode buried anywhere on the doors. Everyone again was staying on 3rd
floor.
Spitting in the champagne flute – YAK! Couldn’t they find another way?
Like literally anything else!
How sweet of them to get Monroe
a cake in the shape of a clock!
Memorable Quotes:
Wu: “The course of true love never
did run true.”
Sol’s rating: It was fun, like fun before the
storm. 4 out of 5.
