Grimm: 3x11 “The Good Soldier”
“Eye for eye, tooth for tooth,
hand for hand, foot for foot”
|
Monroe: "Life is the
scale upon which is measured the depth of a man's soul."
Well, there are great
episodes, there are good episodes, there are so-so episodes, and then there is
that.
What a total boring
disappointment it was! This review might not only be very late, but also brief (maybe).
Reign: 1x08 “Fated”
And she did. That was a fantastic and heavily packed
hour. We had a blissful morning after, one very romantic proposal, the possibility to claim the
English throne, the death of someone, if not beloved, but certainly fairly lovable and departure
of three main characters. Those are just the highlights, the episode contained
lots of delightful scenes yet it played out very organically and didn’t
feel crowded.
Reign: Pilot
“Mary, you are the Queen of Scotland”
This is a retro review of a pilot
episode, so there will be no spoilers about the future episodes. However I will
be talking about the events of the pilot, so if you still haven’t seen it, go watch
it first, then please come back to read and comment.
The pilot episode of “Reign”
turned out to be very addictive and highly entertaining. Sometimes pilots can
be over packed with information to the point that it makes it difficult to
watch, this one did a good job of setting up the scene for the season. It
presented a world of interesting, diverse and gorgeous characters. It also gave
us a captivating story that has pretty much everything one can wish for - love,
intrigues, political plots, murders and some supernatural\mystery elements.
Grimm: 3x10 “Eyes of the Beholder”
Hank: “Well, when you have someone
that loves you, that can get you through a lot of bad.”
Oh, boy! Way too many things
happened in this one. Lots of revelations, someone’s past has come back to not
to haunt, a hell of a kitchen fight, a strong friendship, an old love, a new
love and a young love. And did they just actually compare “being Wesen” to
“being gay”?
Grimm: 3x09 “Red Menace”
“To kill Koschei the Deathless, first you must find his soul,
which is hidden in an egg, in a duck in a lead chest
buried beneath an oak tree.
|
Hank: “Sounds like his sins
have come back to haunt him.”
have come back to haunt him.”
This time Grimm’s Powers That
Be turned to Russian folklore for inspiration. Koschei the Deathless, the
famous antagonist in Russian fairy tales, is a Wesen of the week whose touch
can be worse than death but it can also heal.
